Palm Sunday Reflection
April 13, 2025CKC UMUEZIGWE EASTER SUNDAY CELEBRATION: HE IS RISEN
July 21, 2025The 2025 Youth Week at Christ the King Catholic Church (CKC), Umuezigwe, kicked off in grand style on Monday, July 14th, with a vibrant lineup of activities that brought the parish community together to celebrate faith, culture, and youthful energy.
The theme for this year’s Youth Week was:
“You also are witnesses, because you have been with me.” – John 15:27
This theme served as a reminder and a charge to the youths to live as witnesses of Christ in word, character, and service, especially in today’s world. We must live in a way that shows others who Jesus is.
From the opening day, the youths of CKC Umuezigwe immersed themselves in a week filled with engaging events including quiz competitions, football matches, dance battles, and even a carol presentation that brought a festive twist to July!

One of the week’s major highlights was the cultural dance and chair dance competitions, which had everyone on their feet cheering for their favourites. It was a tough contest, but in the end:
St. Peter’s, Umunnachi emerged victorious in the Cultural Dance category.
St. Paul’s, Obinetiti claimed the top spot in the Chair Dance competition.
This year’s Youth Week wasn’t just about entertainment; it was anchored by a meaningful mission: raising funds to complete the parish’s restroom facility, a much-needed project for the comfort and convenience of parishioners.
Throughout the week, the youths also actively served in the hospitality ministry, welcoming parishioners and ensuring every program ran smoothly.
On Saturday, July 19th, a general clean-up exercise was carried out in preparation for the grand finale, showing the young people’s dedication and spirit of service.
The Youth Week ended beautifully on Sunday, July 20th, with a joyful Thanksgiving Mass. During the Mass, the parish priest encouraged everyone, especially the youths, to be faithful witnesses for Christ, not just during church programs, but in their daily lives. He reminded them that their actions, words, and lifestyle should always reflect Jesus.
One of the highlights of the grand finale was the crowning of Mr. and Miss CYON 2025, as well as the Prince and Princess CYON 2025.

Mr. CYON 2025: Master Pedro Ejilauwaemeonu
Miss CYON 2025: Miss Anosike Favour
Prince CYON 2025: Master Goodluck Chinedu Okeke
Princess CYON 2025: Miss Chinweotiti Otumbadi

Winners of the games and other competitions also received gifts. After the fundraising, the week ended with a Thanksgiving procession, full of smiles, dancing, and joy.

Youth Week 2025 was a huge success! The energy, faith, and unity of the young people of CKC Umuezigwe were clear for all to see. For God and for youths through Christ.
