CKC Day Celebration
CKC Parish Umuezigwe celebrates her feast day on the Feast of the Solemnity Christ the King every year. Christ the King is a feast celebrated annually to proclaim the sovereignty and supremacy of Christ as king and Lord over all creations. This feast equally marks the end of the Catholic liturgical calendar of the year, and ushers us into a new year in the life of the Church which begins with the first Sunday of Advent.
The celebration of the day often begins with the Holy Mass. The Eucharistic celebration in its traditional way is divided into three parts; the Holy mass proper, the Corpus Christi procession, and the concluding part which is the benediction. This solemn and systematic celebration reaffirms the uniqueness, orderliness, and universality of the Catholic Church.
After the benediction, the Feast of CKC Day kicks off immediately. The feast is marked with joy and thanksgiving by the parishioners thanking God for their lives as well as the gift of the parish to them.
However, days before the Feast of CKC, the parish organizes a Free Medical Outreach for both members of the community as well as neighboring communities. The Parish also organizes an annual crusade where the church community comes together to pray. All these events then wrap up to the main event, which is the CKC Day Celebration. The celebration is marked by cultural dance by the CMO, CWO and the CYON, march past as well as other entertaining events. The event is also crowned with a lot of delicacies prepared by the CWO.
