About Our Parish
Christ the King Catholic Church is in Umuezigwe Community, Amuzi Ikenanzizi in Obowo Local Government Area of Imo State, Nigeria. The Parish also known as “Ala Nso” is well known for its hospitality towards strangers and visitors as well as its magnificent rectory which is a combination of architectural novelty and aesthetic splendour.
CKC parish was founded in 1983 firstly as a Catholic out Station by late Monsignor Donatus Abiamiri the then pastor of Immaculate Heart Parish Like, Obowo. After many years of worship and dedication by the Catholic Faithful, the then out station became subsumed under the new parish St Mary’s Parish Amuzi, carved out from Immaculate Heart Alike. To the glory of God, CKC out station umuezigwe, was officially elevated to the status of a Parish-in-Building on the 12th of October 2016 by His Lordship Most Rev. Dr. Solomon Amamchukwu Amatu, Catholic Bishop of Okigwe Diocese, with Rev. Fr. Valentine Ojiegbe as the first parish priest/builder. On 15th May 2022 the Parish in building was erected as a full parish under the Catholic Diocese of Okigwe.
CKC Umuezigwe, as it is commonly known, is a community made up of a unique collection of Christians from various social, economic, and backgrounds who collaborate in the hope of God's kingdom. However, the parish is made up of the Catholic people who live here.
This vibrant community includes the good number of babies baptized each year and the over five hundred parishioners including the Men, Women and Youths both home and abroad. It includes young people in high school, at university and in the workforce, as well as a solid core of parishioners who have lived in the area for many decades.
Both the young and old worship with us in our various masses which are celebrated at least six times weekly in addition to Sunday Masses..
